John Chestna

Guide/Educator/Co-Owner

It all started at the age of three when Roland Tremblay, Russell’s dad, took him fishing for the first time. This was the start of a lifelong journey. With over thirteen years’ experience in the wildlife industry, Rus has been involved with numerous state and federal agencies across the country, as well as non-profit organizations. He has not encountered a task that was to big or small to overcome. Having spent a good amount of his career managing waterfowl populations and other bird species out west, Rus has countless hours of studying a wide variety of waterfowl species and other wildlife. There is no better way to give back than to guide people who truly have a passion for the outdoors, or to spark a newfound interest in people who haven't spent much time outdoors. Whether it be hunting, fishing, or a leisurely kayak trip, there's never been a time Rus won’t have a joke up his sleeve or a story to tell. The passion for the outdoors is in all of us, let’s find it on our next trip!

Growing up in rural Vermont, the outdoors sculpted John’s development from an early age. John became involved in various outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, and exploring at an early age, largely to the credit of his parents. During his senior year of high school, John participated in Moosalamoo, an experiential education program that became a driving force in his learning and sharing knowledge and experiences in the great outdoors. His love for education led him to Paul Smith's College in Upstate New York where he studied Wildlife Biology. John's childhood training led him to acquiring an expansive knowledge of wild edibles throughout the Northeast. His craving for knowledge and the ability to help others resulted in him becoming a Wilderness First Responder. John is currently the Manager of a Problem Animal Control company on Cape Cod, MA. Along the way John came to realize that it is not about the end of the road, but the journey. It’s all about the experience!
